A Greenway foundational coffee, Hacienda Esperanza is a coffee wet-mill and processing site in Antigua, Guatemala, operated by Los Volcanes Coffees. Greenway has worked with Josue Morales, founder of LVC, for seven years and counting.
Josue’s approach to coffee production involves centering the supply chain and educational system around the growing communities of Guatemala. These onsite classes focus on biodynamic farming practices, natural methods of insect and fungal control, as well as extensive farm management systems. Greenway has committed to purchasing 100% of all coffees offered that are grown at this production center.
While Josue coordinates the processing of coffee from thousands of farmers across Guatemala, Nueva Esperanza is his only self-operated farm. The selection that Josue prepares for Greenway is 100% Villa Sarchi, washed and dry-fermented before it’s patio dried.
This coffee has incredibly complex but classic flavors of this region. Look for caramel, toffee and brownie batter notes, as well as a cherry pulp flavor, available in these special coffees.
